This was the one that started it all. I posted an Apple laptop on Craigslist and got multiple offers, but there was one that was only a quarter of my asking price. But she was a low-income single mother with a 8th grade daughter in need of a computer for school, so I decided to let her have it. But I didn't hear back for about 3 weeks, until I found out that her grandmother had recently passed away, and she had to fly to DC. Having always been a firm believer in education, I decided to give away the laptop for free, inspiring me to create an entire foundation based on recycling old Macs and donating them to aspiring students who wouldn't be able to complete basic schoolwork without them. |
